Origins
The Inca mineral salt comes from Maras Cusco in the Andes of Peru, close to Machu Picchu. This area was once the heart of the Inca Empire, an ancient Andean people who were very advanced in their lifestyle and were known to work with nature in order to do this. The salt comes from a very old, clean ocean which was hidden in the mountain for many thousands of years. The Inca salt is mined by locals in a very beautiful location at about 3500 meters altitude, which makes it a very pure salt.
Natural source
A warm stream rises from the mountain and has small rivers flowing into the salt ponds. When a ponton is flooded the supply is shut down. The moisture is then evaporated by the sun and wind, and the salt remains. A very natural and sustainable process which provide us with this delicious salt which has been ready for more than 2000 years.
Minerals
The Inca salt contains 84 minerals and has a trace of elements including calcium, iron, magnesium and zinc. There is less of sodium in the Inca salt than the conventional salts. This also makes the Inca salt a better and wiser choice than normal salt.
Iodine
Iodine has been added to making it a complete mineral salt. Naturally there is insufficient iodine in mineral salt than needed to meet our essential food needs. Iodine is an essential mineral for good health. We get less iodine in many new food trends than before. For example, when eating less bread and using organic products with mineral salt with very little iodine. So choose our complete mineral salt with enough iodine!
Fair trade
The many salt ponds are owned by many families in the region, as the salt is an important source of income for these people. We import the Inca salt directly from the locals in Peru for a fair price, so the local people in Peru benefits from the sales of Inca salt.
